Data corruption is the unintended change of a file or the losing of info that usually occurs during reading or writing. The reason could be hardware or software malfunction, and consequently, a file could become partially or completely corrupted, so it will no longer function properly since its bits shall be scrambled or lacking. An image file, for example, will no longer display an authentic image, but a random mix of colors, an archive will be impossible to unpack because its content will be unreadable, etc. In case such an issue occurs and it isn't noticed by the system or by an administrator, the data will become corrupted silently and when this happens on a disk drive that's a part of a RAID array where the info is synchronized between various different drives, the corrupted file will be replicated on all the other drives and the damage will become permanent. A large number of frequently used file systems either do not offer real-time checks or do not have high quality ones which can detect an issue before the damage is done, so silent data corruption is a rather common matter on hosting servers where huge amounts of info are kept.
No Data Corruption & Data Integrity in Web Hosting
We warrant the integrity of the information uploaded in any web hosting account which is created on our cloud platform as we work with the advanced ZFS file system. The aforementioned is the only one that was designed to avert silent data corruption through a unique checksum for every single file. We shall store your data on multiple NVMe drives which operate in a RAID, so identical files will exist on several places at once. ZFS checks the digital fingerprint of all files on all the drives in real time and if the checksum of any file is different from what it has to be, the file system swaps that file with an undamaged version from some other drive inside the RAID. There's no other file system that uses checksums, so it is possible for data to become silently corrupted and the bad file to be duplicated on all drives with time, but since this can never happen on a server running ZFS, you don't have to worry about the integrity of your data.
No Data Corruption & Data Integrity in Semi-dedicated Hosting
In case you go for one of our semi-dedicated hosting packages, you won't have to worry about silent data corruption as we use ZFS - an advanced file system that monitors all the files in real time. Every time you upload a file to your website hosting account, ZFS will assign a unique digital fingerprint to it - the so-called checksum. The file will be synced between multiple NVMe drives for redundancy, so if a drive fails, the other ones will take control. ZFS compares the checksum of all of the copies on the different drives and if it detects a corrupted copy, it replaces it with a healthy one from another drive. This is done in real time, so there will be no danger for any part of your content at any moment. By comparison, alternative file systems carry out checks only after a system malfunction, but since they don't use anything similar to the checksums which ZFS uses, they won't detect silently corrupted files, so a bad copy can be replicated on the remaining drives as well and you can lose crucial information. As this isn't the case with ZFS, we can warrant the integrity of every single file you upload no matter what.
